Born in Haifa, Israel, Oren grew up in the United States watching Steven Spielberg movies and building LEGO sets. These activities laid the groundwork for what would eventually become his lifeblood - a burning love of all things film. After moving back to Israel at age 10, Oren continued to pursue his deep-rooted passion vigorously, making numerous award-winning short films and videos throughout high school and his three-year military service.

Oren shot two features that were distributed theatrically and on VOD in 2016: ‘No Letting Go' starring Alysia Reiner, Kathy Najimy, Richard Burgi and others; and 'Little Miss Perfect' starring Karlee Roberts, Isabella Palmieri and Lilla Crawford. During his studies at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Oren was nominated for the ASC Gordon Willis Student Heritage Award, and was a finalist for the Arri Volker Bahnemann Award for Cinematography. Oren has also shot dozens of short films, commercials and music videos, worked for a variety of clients including Discovery Channel, Bloomberg News, Time Inc, Refinery 29, National Geographic, Mattel, MTV, Nickelodeon, and the Special Olympics, and has worked on multiple feature films studying under acclaimed Director of Photography Reed Morano, ASC.

Oren speaks three languages and is fascinated by other cultures and peoples. When not painting with light, Oren also paints and sketches the old-fashioned way, and dabbles in digital image making and graphic design as well. Oren is also an avid photographer - his photograph from Shakespeare in the Square's production of "Macbeth" was published in the New York Times on October 28, 2011.
